Mark Stoops and the UK coaching staff have already landed seven commitments for the recruiting class of 2017.

Three-star defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna announced his commitment to play football for the University of Kentucky on Wednesday night.

Bohanna — a 6-foot-4, 300-pound prospect from Cordova, Tenn. — earned a scholarship offer from UK after attending the program’s junior day event earlier this month. It was the first offer of his recruitment, and Memphis is the only other school that has extended one so far.

Several Southeastern Conference schools have hosted Bohanna for recruiting visits, including home-state Tennessee.

Rivals.com and 247Sports both rank Bohanna as a three-star prospect, and 247Sports pegs him as the No. 45 defensive tackle in the class of 2017. He was recruited at UK by defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot and defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh.

Bohanna is the Wildcats’ seventh commitment for next year, and he joins four-star defensive end James Hudson as the team’s second pledge on the defensive side of the ball.

247Sports now ranks UK’s class No. 9 nationally and No. 2 in the SEC behind only Alabama.
