UK’s top football commitments on campus for second junior day event
After being unable to attend UK’s first junior day of the 2017 recruiting cycle last month, top Wildcats football commitments James Hudson and Michael Warren were both in Lexington early Saturday morning for the program’s second scheduled junior day event.
The high school teammates from Toledo Central Catholic in Ohio posed for a photo with UK Coach Mark Stoops and recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow early in the day.
Warren is ranked as one of the top running backs nationally in the class of 2017. Hudson is considered a top-10 defensive end nationally and is UK’s top-ranked commitment in the Rivals.com player rankings. Both are four-star prospects.
Holding on to the commitments of Hudson and Warren will be big for UK in the lead up to next year’s national signing day. Hudson has received recent scholarship offers from Michigan State and Penn State, and Warren is also being targeted by other major programs.
Fellow UK commitment Quinton Bohanna — a defensive lineman from Cordova, Tenn. — was also among the players in Lexington for Saturday’s junior day, which yielded a new commitment from class of 2017 offensive lineman Austin Dotson. Three-star running back Bryant Koback — another UK commitment — was also expected to attend.
The Cats’ other three 2017 commitments —Mac Jones, Walker Wood and Russ Yeast — visited for last month’s junior day.
UK’s top remaining recruiting target for the class of 2017 — five-star offensive tackle Jedrick Wills of Lexington — also attended last month’s junior day event. He was scheduled to be on Tennessee’s campus for a visit Saturday.
