The honors keep piling up for UK quarterback commitment Mac Jones, who earned the most valuable player award at another major camp Saturday and will be back in Lexington next week.

Jones, who committed to UK last July, was named the top quarterback at the Rivals Camp Series event in Atlanta on Saturday. In February, Jones won QB MVP honors at the Rivals event in Orlando.

The Jacksonville, Fla., native also picked up an invitation to the Rivals Five-Star Challenge following his performance in Atlanta on Saturday. Only 14 quarterbacks nationally were invited to that event last year. The date and location for this year’s Five-Star Challenge have not yet been set. It was held the first weekend of June at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens, in 2015.

Rivals.com recently bumped Jones up to four-star status, and he is ranked as the No. 15 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2017.

Jones also told the Herald-Leader on Saturday that he will be in Lexington on Tuesday to see his first UK practice of the spring.

The 6-foot-3 prospect originally committed to former UK offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson, and he is still getting to know coaches Eddie Gran and Darin Hinshaw, the new leaders of the Wildcats’ offense.

Jones most recently visited UK in February for the program’s first junior day of the 2017 recruiting cycle. He took a visit to Arizona State, which has offered him a scholarship, earlier this week while visiting family out west, but he remains solid in his commitment to Kentucky.
