Four UK football players named to All Commonwealth team
Four University of Kentucky football players were among 58 named Wednesday to the Community Trust Bank 2016 Kentucky Collegiate All Commonwealth Team.
The team, presented annually by the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame, is a recognition award for football players attending a Kentucky college or university. Players, nominated by each Kentucky school, are recognized for their performance on the field and in the classroom.
UK players named to the All Commonwealth Team were center Jon Toth and defensive backs Mike Edwards, Chris Westry and Derrick Baity. The Louisville Cardinals also had four members: linebackers Devonte Fields and Keith Kelsey and wide receivers Jamari Staples and James Quick. Western Kentucky’s four selections were wide receiver Taywan Taylor, running back Anthony Wales, defensive back Marcus Ward and offensive lineman Forrest Lamp.
The Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame started the All Commonwealth Team in 2010 to recognize young players at a local level.
