Kentucky football recruiting: Updated profiles on the Cats’ 11 commitments for 2017

It’s been an eventful few days off the field for the University of Kentucky football program, which has lost two high-profile commitments but also gained a recruit that could be a difference-maker down the road for the Wildcats.

Ohio teammates James Hudson and Michael Warren both decommitted from UK last week after being pledged to the Cats’ recruiting class of 2017 since July. Both players have said they will continue to consider UK, but it seems unlikely that they’ll be back with the program before national signing day in February.

The Cats did land a weekend commitment from junior-college defensive lineman Phil Hoskins, who chose UK over scholarship offers from Baylor, Mississippi State, Houston and several other schools.

Hoskins is UK’s 11^th commitment for next year, and the Cats’ overall recruiting class is looking strong despite the recent departures.

The Wildcats’ class is now ranked No. 17 nationally by Rivals.com, 18th by Scout.com and 19th by 247Sports. Rivals ranks UK’s group fourth in the Southeastern Conference, behind only Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana State.
