Oscar Combs departs from UK football, basketball pregame shows
Oscar Combs, a longtime radio host on University of Kentucky football and basketball pregame broadcasts, announced Thursday that he is leaving that role effective immediately.
Combs, the founder and former owner of The Cats’ Pause, a UK fan publication, said on Twitter that he notified JMI Sports in June that he would no longer be involved with the UK Radio Network pregame shows. JMI is the multimedia rights holder for UK Athletics.
Let me assure you I have enjoyed nothing more than interacting & sharing stories with Big Blue Nation past 2 decades on UK Radio Network.

“Let me assure you I have enjoyed nothing more than interacting & sharing stories with Big Blue Nation past 2 decades on UK Radio Network,” Combs posted on Twitter. “I won’t go into details why I decided to turn to another chapter in my life, but I will still be around on Twitter & perhaps other venues.”
Combs also wished an early happy 40th anniversary to The Cats’ Pause and its staff. “All this fun started with the creation of TCP on Sept. 11, 1976,” he tweeted.
“Let me just say it’s been a fantastic way to keep in contact with UK fans & the sports they love to follow. Thank you all for listening.”
