After a brief delay, Reid Travis now practicing with UK basketball team
After missing the first few UK basketball practices of the summer while going through the enrollment process, graduate transfer Reid Travis is now back on the court.
A video posted to the Twitter account associated with John Calipari's website Tuesday night was the first confirmation that Travis, who announced last month he was transferring to UK, had joined his teammates in on-court activities.
A UK spokesman told the Herald-Leader last week that Travis had not been practicing with the team due to the normal enrollment process that all transfers must complete. The 6-foot-9 power forward has been participating in other, non-practice activities in the meantime, and he will be eligible to play for Kentucky this season.
Travis' late addition to UK's roster vaulted the Cats to the No. 1 spot in many national preseason rankings, and he's expected to compete for a starting spot for Kentucky this season. he averaged 19.5 points and 8.7 rebounds at Stanford last season, earning first team all-conference honors.
He will wear uniform No. 22 for the Wildcats.
The UK basketball team will go on a four-game tour of the Bahamas next month.
