Kentucky is recruiting North Texas hard. And other top UK basketball recruiting links.
The college basketball recruiting period is now in full swing, with last weekend marking the first days when men’s college basketball coaches from around the country could make visits to their priority recruits in upcoming recruiting classes.
What has this looked like for Kentucky?
It’s featured a mix of the expected players that everyone knew John Calipari and company would visit, like Aaron Bradshaw and DJ Wagner in New Jersey, but also some new names.
The Wildcats have also hit North Texas hard, with three recruits from the area all receiving visits from UK on Monday.
Class of 2024 shooting guard Dink Pate, class of 2023 power forward Ron Holland and class of 2024 shooting guard Tre Johnson all received visits from Kentucky to start the week.
Pate, who doesn’t yet have a UK scholarship offer, is ranked as the No. 32 overall player in the class of 2024 by the 247Sports Composite and is ranked as the No. 9 shooting guard in the class.
Holland is a longtime Kentucky target who has the Cats in his list of final post-high school options.
Johnson received a Kentucky scholarship offer over the summer, and has ties to former UK guard Tyrese Maxey.
A common thread with the recruitment of all three players? The presence of new Kentucky assistant coach K.T. Turner, who has significant ties to the Texas recruiting scene.
