Highlights: Kentucky recruit Travis Perry scores 45 points in high-profile high school game
Saturday night’s titanic high school basketball matchup between North Laurel and Lyon County at Lexington Catholic High School lived up to the hype.
And the standout play of its main protagonists was a big reason why.
The game pitted senior combo guard and Kentucky men’s basketball signee Reed Sheppard (North Laurel) against junior point guard and UK recruit Travis Perry (Lyon County).
Both players had sensational performances in what was a thrilling 90-83 win for Lyon County in the “Second Chance Shootout” event, which came in front of a packed crowd full of Kentucky fans in Lexington.
Perry — who is currently pursuing the all-time Kentucky high school boys’ basketball scoring record — had another big-time scoring performance on a big stage.
Perry scored 45 points in the Lyon County win, going 17-for-26 from the field and 10-for-16 from three-point range. He also had five assists in the win.
