John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats’ coaching staff hit the recruiting trail in force this past weekend.

All of the coaches currently on staff for UK — Calipari, Orlando Antigua, Chin Coleman and Bruiser Flint — were on the road watching top high school prospects play during the opening weekend of 2023’s first recruiting live period.

For Kentucky, this meant splitting time between the Nike EYBL session in Atlanta and the Adidas 3SSB event in Iowa.

Calipari and Coleman spent Friday watching UK recruits, including Flory Bidunga and Koa Peat, on the Adidas circuit before heading to Atlanta to represent a full Kentucky coaching contingent at the Nike EYBL stop.

From top-ranked 2024 recruit Tre Johnson to in-state 2025 guard Jasper Johnson, and a variety of players in between, this weekend saw Kentucky get an up-close look at plenty of players with existing UK scholarship offers, and several who might soon receive an offer from Calipari and company.

In fact, two players that Kentucky watched over the weekend have already gotten new scholarship offers from the Cats.

Peat reported a scholarship offer from Kentucky on Friday night, which makes him the second player in the class of 2025 to receive one from UK. The other is Ohio-based shooting guard Darryn Peterson.

Peat, who is from Arizona, is a five-star recruit who is ranked as the No. 3 overall player in the class by the 247Sports Composite.

Peat plays for the Compton Magic on the Adidas 3SSB circuit.

Additionally, class of 2024 combo guard Ahmad Nowell received a scholarship offer from Kentucky at the Nike EYBL session in Atlanta.

Nowell is a four-star recruit who is ranked as the No. 33 overall player in the 2024 class, per the 247Sports Composite.

Kentucky has had plenty of in-person time to evaluate Nowell beyond just this weekend: Nowell was a high school teammate of incoming Kentucky Wildcat Justin Edwards at Imhotep Institute in Philadelphia.
