John Calipari and the Kentucky men’s basketball program have taken an aggressive approach to recruiting future players to Lexington.

The Wildcats already have five scholarship offers out to players in the class of 2025, which far outpaces what had been normal procedure for Calipari until only a year ago.

One of those class of 2025 players to receive a UK scholarship offer has continued to stand out on the travel basketball circuit despite playing up an age level on a star-studded team.

Meleek Thomas, a class of 2025 guard from just outside of Pittsburgh, is making a name for himself this spring playing for the New Heights Lightning program on the Nike EYBL circuit.

Despite sharing the court with top 2024 recruits Tahaad Pettiford (a former UK recruit who is an Auburn commit) and Elliot Cadeau (a North Carolina commit), Thomas has stood out with his rangy 6-4 frame and penchant for playmaking.

Thomas is currently ranked as the No. 6 overall recruit in the class of 2025, per the 247Sports Composite, and Kentucky is making it a point to get in early on his recruitment.

Thomas’ eye-catching play continued last weekend during the third Nike EYBL session of the spring at the Southwest Athletic Center in Carrollton, Texas.

The Herald-Leader was in attendance and captured some of Thomas’ best moments.
