UK Basketball Recruiting

The early signing period is over. Which recruits did each SEC basketball program land?

The early signing period for college basketball recruits has come and gone.

From Nov. 13 through Nov. 20, class of 2025 college basketball recruits were able to sign national letters of intent (NLI) with schools across the country.

Locally, all three of Kentucky basketball’s commitments in the 2025 class — guards Jasper Johnson and Acaden Lewis and center Malachi Moreno — signed with UK.

Once players sign their national letter of intent, coaches are allowed to publicly commitment on them. Mark Pope sat down with the Herald-Leader earlier this month to discuss each of Lewis, Johnson and Moreno.

But what about the other 15 men’s basketball programs around the Southeastern Conference?

Here’s a program-by-program look at how each of the SEC’s 16 teams fared during the early signing period, along with additional notes about their efforts when recruiting the 2025 class.

Schools are listed in the order of their 2025 recruiting class ranking on 247Sports.

The regular signing period for class of 2025 college basketball recruits will run from April 16 through May 21.

Arkansas

247Sports team recruiting ranking: Fifth.

Class of 2025 signees: Guards Darius Acuff Jr., Meleek Thomas and Isaiah Sealy.

John Calipari, for now, occupies the top spot among SEC basketball teams in the 2025 recruiting rankings.

All three of Calipari’s signees at Arkansas are backcourt players. Calipari spent time recruiting both Acuff and Thomas to UK in recent years while he was at his previous post in Lexington.

Both Acuff and Thomas are five-star prospects, while Sealy is a four-star recruit who is from Arkansas.

Kentucky

247Sports team recruiting ranking: Sixth.

Class of 2025 signees: Guards Jasper Johnson and Acaden Lewis and center Malachi Moreno.

Mark Pope isn’t far behind the man who he assumed the title of Kentucky head coach from.

Before he coached an official game with the Wildcats, Pope received commitments from all three of the prospects who are now Kentucky signees.

Johnson — the son of former Harrodsburg, UK and NFL football player Dennis Johnson — is the only five-star recruit from this group, with Lewis and Moreno both rated as high four-star prospects.

Johnson began his high school career at Woodford County in Versailles, while Moreno is a star at Great Crossing in Georgetown and is the favorite to be named Kentucky Mr. Basketball next year.

The Wildcats are also the leader in the recruitment of power forward Caleb Wilson, a projected one-and-done prospect who is expected to make his college decision during the winter months.

Mississippi State

247Sports team recruiting ranking: Eighth.

Class of 2025 signees: Guard King Grace, small forward Cameren Paul and center Jamarion Davis-Fleming.

Mississippi State’s top-10 ranked recruiting class is headlined by Grace, a skilled shooting guard from Dallas who is a four-star prospect.

Davis-Fleming is an in-state, four-star prospect, while Paul is a three-star recruit who is also from the Dallas area.

Head coach Chris Jans picked up another big recruiting win during the early signing period when four-star center Tee Bartlett committed to the Bulldogs. But Bartlett, who plays at the Overtime Elite program in Atlanta, opted not to sign early with Mississippi State.

Alabama

247Sports team recruiting ranking: 11th.

Class of 2025 signees: Guard Davion Hannah and small forwards Amari Allen and London Jemison.

All three of Allen, Hannah and Jemison are four-star prospects who have signed to play for head coach Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide.

Hannah and Jemison headline this group of players. Hannah is the most recent commit, and he chose Alabama during the early signing period over a final four list that also included Cincinnati, Missouri and Ohio State.

Jemison picked Alabama from a final shortlist that also included Kansas and Louisville. Alabama assistant coach Preston Murphy previously coached Jemison on the Nike grassroots circuit.

LSU

247Sports team recruiting ranking: 14th.

Class of 2025 signees: Guards Mazi Mosley and Jalen Reece and power forward Matt Gilhool.

Third-year LSU head coach Matt McMahon, who was previously the longtime coach at Murray State, is having a hot streak on the recruiting trail at the moment.

Each of Mosley, Reece and Gilhool are four-star prospects. But the Tigers recently suffered a significant recruiting loss when five-star center Chris Cenac Jr. — one of the best prospects in the 2025 recruiting class and a New Orleans native — committed to Houston on Tuesday afternoon.

Kentucky and LSU were two of the final seven schools in contention for Cenac.

Auburn

247Sports team recruiting ranking: 15th.

Class of 2025 signees: Guards Kaden Magwood and Simon Walker and power forward Sebastian Williams-Adams.

Auburn might be the No. 1-ranked team in the nation this time next week, and head coach Bruce Pearl is off to a good start when it comes to maintaining Auburn’s high level of play.

Williams-Adams is a four-star, standout big from Houston. Magwood is also a four-star recruit who has a strong reputation as a scorer, despite his 6-foot-1 frame. A Louisville native, Magwood began his high school basketball career at Western High School in the Derby City.

Walker is an in-state, three-star pickup from Huntsville.

Georgia

247Sports team recruiting ranking: 18th.

Class of 2025 signees: Small forward Jacob Wilkins and centers Kareem Stagg and Jackson McVey.

Head coach Mike White doesn’t have a backcourt player, yet, in his 2025 high school recruiting class, but he does have plenty of talent on its way to Athens.

Wilkins is the top addition from this group. He’s an in-state prospect and, notably, the son of Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins. The elder Wilkins also played at Georgia and averaged more than 21 points across 78 career games with the Bulldogs, earning first-team All-SEC honors along the way.

South Carolina

247Sports team recruiting ranking: 22nd.

Class of 2025 signees: Guard Eli Ellis, small forward Grant Polk and power forwards EJ Walker and Hayden Assemian.

Third-year South Carolina head coach Lamont Paris has pieced together one of the most interesting recruiting classes in the country for next year.

Let’s start with Ellis, a diminutive 6-foot-1 guard with deep shooting range. Ellis is a massive social media star with more than 1 million followers on TikTok, but he routinely lights up the scoreboard while playing in the Atlanta-based Overtime Elite league for his father.

Walker is a talented high school player from the commonwealth who plays at Lloyd Memorial High School in Erlanger. Walker picked the Gamecocks from a final shortlist that included name-brand programs Purdue, Ohio State and Wisconsin.

Polk is a three-star prospect from Washington, D.C., and Assemian is teammates with Ellis on the same Overtime Elite team.

Florida

247Sports team recruiting ranking: 27th.

Class of 2025 signees: Guard Alex Lloyd.

Four-star shooting guard Alex Lloyd — an in-state recruit from Fort Lauderdale — is the only recruit in the 2025 class to have signed with the Gators.

Florida also has a commitment from four-star small forward CJ Ingram, who committed to the Gators in August but didn’t sign with the school earlier this month.

Head coach Todd Golden — who previously was the head coach at San Francisco — is currently the subject of a Title IX investigation by Florida.

Ole Miss

247Sports team recruiting ranking: 29th.

Class of 2025 signees: Guard Patton Pinkins and power forward Tylis Jordan.

Second-year Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard has two four-star prospects who have signed with his program in the 2025 class.

Jordan is a top-50 prospect nationally and committed to Ole Miss over the likes of Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee, among others. Pinkins is the son of Ole Miss assistant coach Al Pinkins.

Tennessee

247Sports team recruiting ranking: 34th.

Class of 2025 signees: Small forward Amari Evans and center DeWayne Brown.

Fresh off only the second Elite Eight appearance in program history, Tennessee has inked a pair of four-star recruits in the 2025 class.

Leading the way for head coach Rick Barnes’ program is Evans, a top-75 prospect nationally who plays in Atlanta at the Overtime Elite program. Evans was the Defensive Player of the Year winner in the Overtime Elite league last season.

Brown committed to Tennessee back in April over Mississippi State.

Oklahoma

247Sports team recruiting ranking: 36th.

Class of 2025 signees: Small forward Alec Blair and centers Andreas Hoist and Kai Rogers.

One of two new SEC members this season, the Sooners have three signees in the fold for the 2025-26 season.

The highest-ranked of these prospects is Rogers, a four-star center who plays in Atlanta as part of the Overtime Elite program. The 6-foot-10 Rogers is a top-70 prospect nationally.

Blair is a three-star recruit from California and Hoist is a 6-foot-11 center from Denmark. Hoist, who has playing experience in Denmark’s top-level basketball league, impressed OU head coach Porter Moser during the NBA Academy Games over the summer.

Missouri

247Sports team recruiting ranking: 37th.

Class of 2025 signees: Guard Aaron Rowe and power forward Nicholas Randall.

Right behind Oklahoma in the recruiting rankings is Missouri, which lost all 19 games it played against SEC opponents last season.

Head coach Dennis Gates brought in a recruiting class this year that ranked in the top five nationally, but he’s a long way from replicating that again in 2025.

Rowe is a four-star, top-80 recruit and an important hometown get for Gates. Rowe plays high school basketball in Columbia. Randall is a 6-foot-7 recruit from Arizona.

The Tigers first chance to get back in the SEC win column will be Jan. 4 at Auburn.

Texas A&M

247Sports team recruiting ranking: 45th.

Class of 2025 signees: Guard Jeremiah Green and small forward Jasir Rencher.

Head coach Buzz Williams is set to add a pair of players in College Station next season.

Rencher, a 6-foot-5 small forward from San Francisco, is a three-star recruit who also considered LSU and Washington, among other schools.

Green, a 6-foot-3 combo guard originally from North Texas, is a four-star addition for Texas A&M who picked the Aggies over LSU, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, and TCU.

Texas

247Sports team recruiting ranking: 68th.

Class of 2025 signees: Center John Clark.

The other newcomer to the SEC this season, Texas has just one signee that’s currently part of the Longhorns’ 2025 recruiting class.

That being said, it’s a good one. Four-star center John Clark picked his home-state school over interest from the likes of Houston, Kansas and rival Texas A&M. Clark’s calling card as a prospect is his rebounding ability.

Vanderbilt

247Sports team recruiting ranking: 77th.

Class of 2025 signees: Small forward Jaylon Dean-Vines and center Jayden Leverett.

Rounding out the 16-team SEC is Vanderbilt, which is under new direction this season with former Georgia Southern and James Madison head coach Mark Byington now leading the Commodores.

Vandy has a pair of prospects signed in its 2025 recruiting class.

Leverett, a 6-foot-10 center from West Texas, is a four-star recruit who is knocking on the door of becoming a top-100 prospect nationally. Dean-Vines also held scholarship offers from the likes of Illinois, Oklahoma and Texas A&M, among others.
