UK recruit Adebayo gets double-double in season opener

UK’s newest basketball commitment put up some big numbers in his senior season debut Tuesday night.

Edrice “Bam” Adebayo, who announced his commitment to the Wildcats on Tuesday morning, had 22 points, 17 rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots and three steals in High Point (N.C.) Christian Academy’s 81-39 victory over New Garden Friends.

It was Adebayo’s first game with High Point Christian. He transferred to the school, in part, for a season of tougher competition after averaging 32.2 points, 21 rebounds and 4.5 blocked shots during his junior season.

Before the game, Adebayo and his mother -- both wearing blue UK hats -- participated in a courtside signing ceremony. ESPN ranks Adebayo as the No. 6 overall recruit in the class of 2016.
