More Kentucky basketball recruiting links: Star big man plans visit for UK-UofL game
Things have been relatively quiet regarding Kentucky’s search for a big man in the 2023 recruiting class, but an intriguing option is now emerging.
Isaiah Miranda -- a 7-foot-1 prospect from Rhode Island -- has been on the periphery of UK’s recruiting radar in recent months, and the Cats could be ready to take the next step in their pursuit. Miranda scored 28 points and shot 13-for-19 from the field in a game at the high-profile National Prep Showcase over the weekend, and Kentucky assistant coach Orlando Antigua was in attendance.
National recruiting expert Andrew Slater reported Monday that Miranda was planning to take a recruiting visit to Lexington sometime around Christmas, and it was confirmed Tuesday that he will be in town for the Kentucky-Louisville game Dec. 22. That will be an official visit. Miranda already has scholarship offers from UConn, Memphis, Oklahoma State and Southern Cal, among others, and that offer list is certain to expand over the course of his junior season.
Miranda is the No. 32 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. That rating is also likely to go up in the near future. UK has extended scholarship offers to eight players in the class, but none of them are centers. Miranda will be one to watch.
