More Kentucky basketball recruiting links: It was a big weekend for a Wildcats signee

Kentucky basketball signee Cason Wallace looked every bit the part of a top-10 recruit in his performance over the weekend for Richardson (Texas), which knocked off No. 1-ranked Arizona Compass Prep in a 61-38 blowout at the Thanksgiving Hoopfest in Fort Worth on Saturday night.

Wallace scored 22 points and was dominant on the court, especially in the second half. Offensively, he played with a nice tempo, created well for others, made some tough shots, and had no problems getting past the first layer of defense on the perimeter. Defensively, he hounded ball handlers, filled passing lanes, and used his quick hands and instincts to cause deflections, turnovers and generally disrupt the offensive flow.

The UK signee just has a knack for being in the right place at the right time, and he manages to do that without getting out of position. He should be a fan favorite in Rupp Arena next season, and he’s the type of gutsy, versatile guard that is likely to win over John Calipari right away. (Richardson teammate Rylan Griffen was a lot of fun to watch, too, and he’s signed to Alabama for next season).

The game is available on replay at ESPN+, and subscribers to that service can watch it at this link.
