More Kentucky basketball recruiting links: Five-star recruit tied to UK commits to LSU
Yohan Traore, the five-star center who Kentucky took a long look at earlier this season, committed to play basketball for the Louisiana State Tigers on Sunday.
UK Coach John Calipari scouted Traore in person after missing out on star big men Dereck Lively II and Adem Bona in the fall, but Kentucky decided not to extend a scholarship offer to Traore, who is the No. 15 overall player in the 2022 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. The Wildcats, who probably will still need to add a post player before next season, are likely to go looking in the transfer portal this spring.
Meanwhile, the commitment by Traore means that all of the top-20 recruits in the 2022 class have picked their colleges. The highest-ranked uncommitted player in the class is now Anthony Black at No. 22 overall. Zion Cruz (No. 38 overall) is next. UK is not targeting any additional players in the 2022 class.
LSU also has a commitment from No. 12 overall prospect Julian Phillips and moves to No. 11 in the 2022 national recruiting rankings.
