LeBron’s plan to team up with Bronny, and the top Kentucky basketball recruiting links
NBA superstar LeBron James apparently knows how he’s going to end his Hall of Fame career.
The Los Angeles Lakers star and four-time league MVP told The Athletic over the weekend that he plans to play his final season in the NBA with his son, class of 2023 recruit Bronny James.
“My last year will be played with my son,” James told The Athletic. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”
Bronny is still 17 years old and has two years left in high school, meaning he won’t be eligible for the NBA Draft until 2024 if he stays in his current class. He’s also the No. 34 overall prospect in the junior class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, which means he’s not necessarily projected to be an NBA player.
That said, LeBron, who turned 37 in December, made it quite clear in The Athletic interview that he’s serious about teaming up with his son at the professional level. Kentucky was mentioned as a possible college suitor for Bronny earlier in his basketball life, but there’s been no sign that UK is in serious pursuit of his commitment, though little has been revealed about the teenager’s plans beyond high school.
We’ll see what happens.
