Canadian star lists Kentucky as a finalist. And more top UK basketball recruiting links.
Leonard Miller, arguably the top remaining basketball recruit in the 2022 class, released a new list of college options Wednesday, and Kentucky made the cut.
UK Coach John Calipari was in Canada a few days ago to visit with Miller, a 6-foot-10 forward from the Toronto area who has exploded on to the American recruiting scene in recent months. Miller has had about a 6-inch growth spurt over the past two years and projects as a wing player with true perimeter skills. He was a 40-percent three-point shooter this past season.
His college list now includes Kentucky, Alabama, Auburn, Gonzaga, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Providence and Texas Christian, where his brother is a starting forward. The Herald-Leader was told earlier in the week that UK would be a legitimate option for Miller if he chooses to go the college route, though he’s also considering jumping straight to the pros and will continue to list the G League and the new Overtime Elite league as possibilities. He turns 19 years old in November.
Kentucky’s 2022-23 roster is still being settled, with several players yet to announce whether or not they will return to the Wildcats next season. As a Canadian prospect, Miller is not widely ranked by the national recruiting services, though On3.com recently moved him to No. 11 overall in its rankings. He’s certainly one of the most intriguing, available players this college basketball offseason.
