Clarke announced his commitment -- and reclassification to 2020 -- in September, becoming Kentucky’s highest-ranked recruit in nearly five years. He’s since dropped to the back half of the top 10 nationally, but he’ll be an integral part of the 2020-21 roster. One of the most dynamic prospects in the country, Clarke is a tough, gifted scorer with the length, athleticism and grittiness to be an outstanding perimeter defender at the college level. He visited UK for Big Blue Madness as a sophomore -- back when he was in the 2021 class -- and returned to Lexington for this season’s Madness event, when he helped UK’s coaches recruit some other visiting prospects.

Clarke and fellow top 10 recruit Brandon Boston are the early favorites to be UK’s leading scorer in the 2020-21 season, and both players are already being projected as lottery picks in the 2021 NBA Draft. ”The guy is going to get to the bucket,” Rivals.com’s Corey Evans said. “... It all starts with Terrence Clarke, and I think he will be the leading scorer for Kentucky -- that go-to scorer -- next year, just because of how talented he is. ”Clarke was the first player in the 2020 class to officially sign with Kentucky, doing so on the morning of Nov. 13.

Summer stats

Clarke averaged 16.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game during Nike EYBL play in 2019, shooting 33.8 percent from three-point range during the regular season.

Quotable

“He’s every bit a top-five player, and any time you’re able to reel in that type of talent, it’s a big deal. He’s a tremendous prospect, and I think he’s one of the best scorers in the country. He’s an immediate impact-type guy that will average double-digit points per game and really help them across the board in his first year at Kentucky.” Recruiting analyst Evan Daniels
