High school regional golf tournaments tee off next week
Regional golf tournaments are set to begin Sunday. The 7th Region girls’ tournament and 9th Region boys’ tournament will be played on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
Juniper Hill Golf Course in Frankfort will host the 7th Region girls while the 9th Region boys’ event will be played at Kearney Hill Golf Links.
Lexington’s girls’ teams compete in the 7th Region; the city’s boys play in the 9th Region.

▪ Lafayette hosted the Fayette County Public Schools City Championships this week. Henry Clay’s girls won with a collective 369 while Lafayette claimed the boys’ event with a 298.
Lafayette had three boys’ golfers finish in the top five, including medalist Joe Muschong, who shot a 71. Dunbar’s Ethan Hill finished second with a 74 while Lafayette’s Henry Lane and Locke Cordle each posted scores of 75. Parker Clarke of Henry Clay shot a 76.
Dunbar’s Sara Black bested teammate Maddie Cecil for girls’ medalist honors, shooting a 78 to Cecil’s 85. Henry Clay’s Kathleen Gibbs, Lauren Fedele and Delia Gibbs finished 3-4-5.
