East Carter softball star Montana Fouts repeats as Gatorade’s top player

East Carter junior Montana Fouts has repeated as the Kentucky Gatorade Softball Player of the Year.

Fouts is the only athlete from East Carter to have ever won a Gatorade award. The standout pitcher was 24-2 with a 0.30 ERA at the time of her nomination this season. The University of Alabama commit was batting nearly .600 and had 10 home runs with 56 RBI at the time, too.

“She is tough to go up against,” Ashland Blazer Coach Scott Ingram told Gatorade. “She just attacks the strike zone and dares you to beat her. Which most can’t.”

East Carter is 33-3, its only in-state loss coming against Boyd County (6-4) in late April. It repeated as the 16th Region champ and opens this year’s state tournament against Collins at 5 p.m. (CST) in Owensboro.

The national Gatorade Softball Player of the Year award will be announced at a later date.
