The biggest dates to know for the 2018 Kentucky high school football season

High school football kicks off Friday, but that’s not the only big date with which you need to be familiar.

Below are some key dates to help you navigate the 2018 Kentucky high school football season.

FRIDAY, AUG. 17

First day of the regular season for teams starting their season in Week 1.

FRIDAY, AUG. 24

First day of the regular season for teams starting their season in Week 2.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 28

St. Xavier vs. Trinity at Cardinal Stadium in Louisville (the state’s most nationally known rivalry).

FRIDAY, OCT. 19

Last day of the regular season for teams with a bye in Week 11.

FRIDAY, OCT. 26

Last day of the regular season for teams whose bye week occurred before Week 11.

FRIDAY, NOV. 2

First round of the KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl playoffs (all six classes)/

FRIDAY, NOV. 9

Second round of the KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl playoffs (all six classes)/
