Pairings revealed for the 2018 state soccer, volleyball tournaments

Pairings for the KHSAA state field hockey, boys’ soccer, girls’ soccer and volleyball tournaments were drawn during a live broadcast from the KHSAA offices on Wednesday.

The boys’ soccer and girls’ soccer champion from the 11th Region — which includes all the schools in Lexington, Franklin County, Madison County and Scott County — will open against the 12th Region champion during the semi-state round. That game’s winner will advance to the state tournament quarterfinals in Lexington and play either the 15th Region or 16th Region champion.

The 11th Region volleyball champion will play the 7th Region champ in the opening round of this year’s state tournament in Louisville. Assumption and Sacred Heart, two perennial title contenders in a sport that’s never seen a public school win a championship, play in the 7th Region. The KHSAA State Volleyball Championship begins Friday, Oct. 26.
