High-scoring in-state star KyKy Tandy picks Xavier University
University Heights Academy senior KyKy Tandy has committed to Xavier University.
Tyler Dixon of the Kentucky New Era first reported Tandy’s commitment. Tandy soon after tweeted out his commitment to the Musketeers, saying “I am a XAVIER MUSKETEER BABY.”

Tandy, ranked as a four-star recruit by 247Sports and the third-best player in Kentucky’s class of 2019, was down to a final two of Mississippi and Xavier. He visited the latter over the weekend.
Several top Division I programs had offered Tandy, among them Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, Cincinnati and Oklahoma. University of Kentucky Coach John Calipari visited Tandy in March after an unofficial recruiting visit February in Lexington, but UK never offered the 6-foot-1 guard.
Tandy averaged 30.5 points per game as a junior, fourth-highest in the state last season, and shot 61.1 percent from the field (including a 47.9-percent clip from three-point territory). He scored 31 points in his Rupp Arena debut in March.
Walton-Verona senior Dieonte Miles — a 6-foot-10 center who missed much of his junior season due to a shoulder injury — committed to Xavier in August. Former Taylor County star Quentin Goodin is a junior on Xavier’s 2018-19 roster, as is ex-Covington Holy Cross standout Leighton Schrand, who was awarded a scholarship this school year after two years as a walk-on.
