Marshall County’s Beth repeats as Ms. Golf, Taylor County’s Coyle named Mr. Golf
Taylor County’s Luke Coyle and Marshall County’s Trinity Beth have been named Mr. Golf and Ms. Golf, respectively, for the 2021 season as the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association announced its top awards and its annual All-State teams.
For Beth, who is just an eighth-grader, this is her second consecutive Ms. Golf honor.
Coyle, a junior, won the KGCA All-State Championship on Sept. 18-19, where in the final round at University Club of Kentucky’s Big Blue course, he played the front nine in 28 (-8) with six birdies and an eagle. Coyle finished in a tie for ninth at last week’s Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Championship, giving him enough KGCA All-State points to hold off the charge by Madison Central’s Clay Pendergrass, who finished third at both the KGCA All-State and KHSAA state tournaments.
Trinity Beth finished second at last week’s KHSAA state tournament and topped the field after a playoff in the KGCA All-State event Sept. 18-19 which helped her edge out Madison Central’s Claira Beth Ramsey for the Ms. Golf honor by 25 points. Ramsey finished third at the All-State event and in a tie for fourth at the KHSAA state tournament.
Mr. Golf and Ms. Golf and the All-State First and Second Teams are chosen by points earned in high school invitationals, the KGCA All-State Championships, regionals, and the KHSAA State Championships. Invitationals submit their results to the All-State points committee composed of directors from Golf House Kentucky, the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association, plus boys’ and girls’ high school coaches.
