Kentucky’s high school coaches hand out Miss Volleyball, all-state honors
The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association recently announced its statewide and regional honors for the 2021 season.
Ryle’s Lucy Trump earned Miss Volleyball honors. Sacred Heart’s Emily Young was named defensive player of the year. Young’s coach, Brett Versen was named coach of the year.
The KVCA also named its all-state teams with Bryan Station’s Olivia Bennett and Paul Laurence Dunbar’s Ava Jackson picked for the first team. Frederick Douglass’s Jamison Gordon and Great Crossing’s Ryann Thomas were among second team honorees. And Bryan Station’s Izabella Carter and Lexington Catholic’s Lucy Wedding received honorable mentions.
In a separate announcement earlier, the KVCA named its region coach and player of the year awards. Bryan Station’s Bennett was named 11th Region player of the year and her coach, Hilary McKenzie took coach of the year honors.
