Here are the 2022 Lexington All-City girls’ basketball teams and player of the year
The Lexington Herald-Leader and Kentucky.com are proud to present the 2022 All-City girls’ high school basketball teams and player of the year as voted on by the nine coaches of Lexington’s varsity KHSAA programs.
The Lexington Player of the Year goes to Lafayette’s Anaya Brown. The 6-foot senior wing player who is committed to Tennessee Martin averaged 17.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game this season and helped her team earn the 43rd District championship and make its second consecutive 11th Region finals appearance.
Lexington Catholic’s Katherine Truitt and Bryan Station’s Tania Woodall tied for second in the voting with Truitt also getting one player-of-the-year vote along with Henry Clay’s Kennedy Williams. Truitt has also been a First Team All-City soccer player each of the last two seasons. Frederick Douglass’s Allison Wallace rounded out the First Team selections.
The nine varsity girls’ basketball coaches in Lexington were asked to nominate players for All-City consideration. Later, the coaches were asked to rank, one through 10, their top players from that list of nominees (they were not permitted to vote for their own players). Point values were assigned to each voting position (10 points for first-place votes, nine points for second-place votes, etc.) and the accumulation of those points was used to create the First and Second Teams.
