High school coaches name 2022 Kentucky Miss Softball, all-state honorees
Estill County’s Emma Winkle has been named 2022’s Miss Softball by the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association as the group also announced its all-state honors and other awards on Sunday.
Winkle, a senior right-hand pitcher and utility player, ranked among the top hurlers in the state in earned run average (1.16), strikeouts (243) and wins (15) while also hitting .429 with 28 runs scored and 35 RBI for the 14th Region champions.
Along with Miss Softball, the KSCA also announced all-state and player- and coach-of-the-year honors. The awards will be presented Saturday afternoon during the East/West All-Star Series at South Warren High School in Bowling Green.
Lexington Catholic freshman Abby Hammond shared Class 2A Player of the Year honors with Emily Cole of Lewis County.
The KSCA follows the school classification system used by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association for track and field for its all-state honors. The following is a list of honors by class in their order by votes received. Players from the 11th Region are in bold.
