Highlights: Bryan Station routs Clark County; Paris survives thriller vs. Nicholas County
Highlights from Friday’s Kentucky high school football games:
Bryan Station 50, Clark County 7: The Defenders (4-3) extended their win streak to four games in their first matchup this season against a district rival, getting standout play from their offensive skill positions and a dominating defensive effort.
Jeremiah Mundy-Lloyd rushed for 105 yards and four touchdowns against his former school, Trenton Cutwright threw for 250 yards and three TDs, and two-way player JT Haskins Jr. had 138 yards receiving and two touchdowns to go with and interception on defense.
“They just played like we know they can do. They’ve been doing that for the last four weeks,” Bryan Station Coach Phillip Hawkins said. “We tried too much in those first three games trying to find an identity for the offense. Four games ago, we said, ‘This is who we are. Let’s stick to it and let the kids get good at it. And they’ve gotten good at it.”
Bryan Station led 28-7 at half on the strength of all four of Mundy-Lloyd’s scores.
Clark County quarterback Tyleik Maxwell capped the Cardinals’ most successful drive of the game with a 15-yard rushing TD in the second quarter. That 80-yard drive accounted for nearly half of Clark County’s 180 yards of total offense. The Cards (5-2) turned it over on downs twice, had a fumble and an interception and punted three times.
In the second half, Cutwright threw touchdown passes of 36 and 30 yards to Haskins and 25 yards to Damin Green to complete the scoring.
“Trenton has been amazing,” Hawkins said. “This week, we let him audible and make some decisions. We’ve kept the game in front of him and he’s figuring it out.”
Bryan Station takes on Oldham County next week before its showdown with defending district and region champion Madison Central on Oct. 21.
