Highlights: Unbeaten Woodford holds off Collins; Casey County make history
Highlights from this week’s Kentucky high school football games:
Woodford County 41, Collins 28: The Yellow Jackets (8-0) scored big plays on back-to-back fourth quarter possessions to pull away from the Titans (6-2) and capture their second straight district crown.
On the first play from scrimmage after Collins tied the game at 28, Andrew Nason broke loose for a 73-yard touchdown run to put Woodford back in front. On the next series, Preston Stacy ran for a 44-yard score for the final margin.
Nason rushed for 187 yards and two TDs to Stacy’s 126 rushing yards and three scores. Nason also threw a TD pass to Aden Nelson for the first score in an up-and-down game that also featured the dynamic play of Collins junior QB Kenyon Goodin.
Goodin rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns to go with 202 yards passing and TD throws to Darius Evans and Hunter Klusch. It was Goodin’s 52-yard TD pass to Evans and subsequent two-point conversion pass to AJ Vandevele that tied the game with 7:52 to play. Kenyon also had two interceptions as a defender.
Casey County 34, Hart County 22: The Rebels (6-2) captured the program’s first district title in its 50-year history as Ethan Willoughby threw for 212 yards and four TDs and rushed for 131 yards and another score.
“This will go down as the biggest night yet in the history of the Casey County football program,” Casey County Coach Steve Stonebraker said. “To be predicted to go 0-10 and picked by all prognosticators to be last in our district — it is almost surreal. But we learned last season how to fight against a tough schedule.”
Willoughby’s TDs passes went to Soloman Stonebraker, Luke Spangler, Gunner Floyd and finally Luke Spangler, a 56-yard bomb that staked the Rebels to a 31-14 lead in the fourth quarter.
“Our defense played tremendous,” Stonebraker said. “Hart was averaging almost 400 yards per game rushing and we held them to under 200 and turned them over three times.”
Lexington Christian 43, Somerset 0: Cutter Boley threw for 507 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another as the Eagles (4-4) set up a district title game next week when they travel to Danville.

Dawson Hosea added a 32-yard rushing touchdown, his second score of the game, to complete Highlands’ run of 15 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.
