The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association has announced its 2022 All-State teams, Ms. Kentucky Volleyball, defensive player of the year and coach of the year.

Manual’s Nya Bunton was named 2022 Ms. Kentucky Volleyball. Bunton, a senior middle blocker committed to the University of Texas, had 379 kills and a .463 hitting percentage to help lead the Crimsons to one their best seasons in history. Bunton is the second Ms. Kentucky Volleyball awarded to a player at Manual and only the fourth awarded to an athlete at a public school.

Notre Dame’s senior libero Kamden Schrand was named defensive player of the year. Schrand racked up more than 600 digs, averaging nearly five digs per set.

Manual Coach Richard Weaver was named coach of the year after leading his team to a 29-8 record and the 7th Region finals.

Paul Laurence Dunbar’s Ava Jackson was a first-team selection.

KVCA All-State Teams are voted on by KVCA member coaches.
