Slideshow: Lexington Catholic softball tops Bryan Station

Lexington Catholic defeated Bryan Station 4-2 in a softball game on Thursday at Lexington Catholic High School.

LexCath’s Abby Hammond struck out 13 and keyed a three-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning with her leadoff single. Ava Emmert followed with a one-out single and Kinley Willoughby delivered a two-run double to break a 1-1 tie. Willoughby later scored on a hit by Olivia Ryan.

Bryan Station took a 1-0 lead in the second inning as Bryan Station loaded the bases after a leadoff single by Trinity Campbell. Michelle Moore followed with a double. Campbell scored after Hammond loaded the bases with one hit batsmen and allowed the run on another hit-by-pitch two batters later.

LexCath’s Lydia Kennedy scored the tying run in the fifth inning on a series of errors that let score on her hard-hit ball to left.

The victory ended LexCath’s (1-3) three-game losing streak to start the season. It was Bryan Station’s (4-1) first defeat. Karsyn Rockvoan struck out seven in the loss.
