Slideshow: Woodford County vs. Henry Clay baseball

Woodford County capitalized on four Henry Clay errors and cranked out nine hits in an 11-1 victory over visiting Henry Clay on Friday.

Justus Wertzler and Brayden Burton each had two hits and two RBI in the mercy-ruled five-inning contest.

Among the highlights was a double steal executed by Woodford County in a five-run second inning in which Brandon Rankin’s steal of second base drew a throw and allowed Ryan Cecil to score from third by beating the return throw home.

Hunter Lyle allowed one run on four hits for his first win of the season for the Yellow Jackets. Henry Clay’s Rogers Kobes took the loss.

The win improves No. 17 Woodford County’s record to 13-6. The defending 8th Region champs are also 5-1 in the 30th District. No. 22 Henry Clay’s record to 12-8
