Rosters set for Kentucky’s all-star basketball series against Indiana
Kentucky’s 2025 Mr. Basketball Malachi Moreno and Miss Basketball ZaKiyah Johnson will be among the senior standouts suiting up for their home state in the annual Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Series this June.
The Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches announced the boys and girls senior all-star rosters Thursday on its social media channels.
The games are scheduled June 6 at Lexington Catholic High School in Lexington and June 7 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Tickets go on sale May 1 at KentuckyBasketballCoaches.org.
As Mr. and Miss Basketball honorees, Moreno and Johnson will wear the No. 1 jersey for their respective teams.
Moreno, a Kentucky signee who helped lead Great Crossing to this season’s Boys’ Sweet 16 state championship, will be joined by all-star honorees who include Warhawks teammate Vince “Tre” Dawson III, Woodford County’s Armelo Boone, who played for three seasons at Frederick Douglass, Harlan County’s Maddox Huff and Butler County’s Ty Price.
Johnson, an LSU signee who earned four consecutive Girls’ Sweet 16 most valuable player awards for nine-time state champion Sacred Heart, will join one of the most notable Kentucky girls rosters in the event’s history.
Kentucky has four players ranked in ESPNW’s top 100 recruiting rankings led by five-star recruits Johnson and Leah Macy of Bethlehem (a Notre Dame signee), as well as four-star recruits Ciara Byars (Michigan) of George Rogers Clark and Grace Mbugua (Louisville) of Danville Christian.
Though named to the Kentucky All-Stars roster, Macy and Ashland Blazer’s Kenleigh Woods will not be able to suit up due to injury. The same goes for South Oldham’s Julian Miles on the boys roster.
The boys team will be coached by Bowling Green’s D.G. Sherrill who led the Purples to the state finals this season. Sacred Heart’s Donna Moir will coach the girls all-stars.
Last year, the boys Kentucky All-Stars split the annual series with their Indiana counterparts while Kentucky’s girls teams suffered a sweep in the two-game set. Indiana leads the boys series 104-46 and the girls series 55-41.
