Seventh-ranked Tates Creek volleyball team rolling early in season
The Tates Creek High School volleyball team, ranked seventh in the state, stayed undefeated against Kentucky competition this season by defeating Newport Central Catholic 3-0 on Tuesday night at home.
The Commodores (6-1) swept 15th-ranked Newport Catholic (2-1) by scores of 25-14, 25-22, 25-18.
Tates Creek’s only defeat came Saturday when it hosted the Kentuckiana Classic and lost to Providence High School of Clarksville, Ind., 25-14, 25-21. Providence has won three consecutive state championships and is ranked No. 1 in Indiana’s Class 3A coaches’ poll this week.
The Commodores return to action Thursday at Scott County at 7:30 p.m.
