Volleyball notes: Tates Creek taking care of in-state competition
▪ Tates Creek senior Lindsey Wilkins, an Indiana State commit, had eight kills on just 10 attempts in the Commodores’ sweep of No. 15 Newport Central Catholic on Tuesday night. Creek, ranked seventh in the state, dropped its first match of the season over the weekend to Providence, a perennial contender in Indiana.
Wilkins said the team responded well to taking their first “L,” and showed that by defeating No. 12 St. Henry immediately after falling to the band of hoosiers.
“We learned how to work together as a team a lot better,” Wilkins said. “We just picked up our communication. ... I think we all just kind of came together this weekend and I think it’s gonna be a strong season for us. ”
With its win over Newport Central Catholic, Creek improved to 6-0 against Kentucky competition this season. The Commodores were scheduled to visit Scott County at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
▪ Bishop Brossart remained undefeated in 10th Region All “A” Classic history after taking down Nicholas County in a best-of-three match (25-11, 25-19) on Wednesday.
