Watch: ‘We’re going to IHOP!’ More-than halfcourt heave protects undefeated season, makes ‘SportsCenter’

Cole Villers’ buzzer-beating, three-quarter court heave both helped Ashland Blazer preserve its undefeated season and launched him into “SportsCenter” Top 10 fame Tuesday night.

The shot broke a 54-54 tie and was streamed live by MyTownTV.com. ESPN’s highlight show featured it later Tuesday night and the video clip on myTownTV’s Twitter account had more than 20,000 views in less than three hours.

ESPN’s Kenny Mayne announced it as the “SportsCenter” No. 1 play on the late evening broadcast: “This play sets the standard by which all plays shall be measured. Kentucky basketball. West Carter, Ashland. Ashland’s Cole Villers. No time. Launches. We’re going to IHOP!”

The Ashland Daily Independent’s Zack Klemme asked Villers if he’d ever made a shot like that: “Maybe on 2K, but not in real life,” Villers responded.

Ashland moved to 27-0 on the season and takes on Rose Hill Christian on Thursday in a bid to finish the regular season without a loss. The Tomcats beat 5-20 Rose Hill by 40 the last time they faced each other.
