City spotlight

▪  Boyle County (5-4) at Paul Laurence Dunbar (3-6), 7:30 p.m.: Dunbar’s defense took a beating last week at Scott County, giving up 73 points to the Cardinals. That was the most points the Bulldogs have given up in a game since a 74-46 loss at Bryan Station on Aug. 27, 1999. Boyle County has averaged 44.1 points in its last six games.

▪  Campbell County (3-6) at Henry Clay (2-6-1), 7:30 p.m.: The Blue Devils managed a season-best 170 yards on the ground in a win over Bryan Station last week. That amount happens to be the number of rushing yards opponents are averaging this season against the Camels, who have lost three straight and their last five against Kentucky opponents.

▪  Southwestern (7-2) at Lexington Catholic (4-5), 7:30 p.m.: After hanging 63 points on Garrard County on the road last week, the Knights come home to face one of Class 5A’s stingier defenses in terms of points allowed (19.3 per game). The Warriors kept Pulaski County at bay last week, picking up their second win against their county rival in the last three seasons.

▪  Powell County (4-5) at Lexington Christian (9-0), 7:30 p.m.: Nathan Skidmore has been a bell cow for the Pirates, who won this matchup at home last year. The sophomore has rushed for 1,346 yards and 20 touchdowns, slightly eclipsing the production of LCA junior Dillon Wheatley (1,148 yards, 18 TDs). On paper, the Eagles’ passing game seems much more threatening, nearly tripling the production of Powell County.

▪  Tates Creek (5-4) at Ashland Blazer (6-3), 7:30 p.m.: Tates Creek takes to the road to pick itself up ahead of its playoff opener next week. The Commodores could secure their first winning season under Coach Antoine Sims with a victory over the Tomcats, who had won six straight before being routed at Johnson Central last Friday.

▪  Off: Lafayette (9-1), Bryan Station (4-6).
