Rating the State: There’s a new No. 1 football team; LCA moves up to 15th

Covington Catholic swapped spots with Scott County this week, taking over at No. 1 in the third edtion of Dave Cantrall’s Rating the State.

The Cardinals had held the top spot the first two weeks of the football rankings.

The Colonels (5-0) defeated Beechwood 45-9 this past weekend while Scott County (3-2) lost 28-14 to La Salle, a school in Cincinnati.

Male, St. Xavier and Simon Kenton round out the top five, followed by Mayfield, Belfry, Pleasure Ridge Park, Bowling Green and South Warren.

Lexington Christian (5-0), a 48-13 winner against Walton-Verona, moved up six spots to No. 15 this week.

Note that some teams are not yet included in the rankings as they have not yet played at least two opponents from Kentucky.
