Lexington Catholic hosts Boyle County on Friday night. It’s not just one of the biggest football games in the state this week, but one of the best chances you’ll have this season to see a number of high-profile recruits in one place.
Boyle County is the defending Class 3A champion and is 7-0 this season. Lexington Catholic (5-2) is seeking its first win over the Rebels since 2016. PrepSpin will broadcast the game live on YouTube; that stream can be found below.
Beau Allen — Lexington Catholic’s 6-foot-2 junior quarterback — has offers from the University of Kentucky, Michigan and Duke. Allen has thrown for 2,330 yards and 23 touchdowns this season. He’s also Catholic’s leading rusher through seven games at 307 yards and 3 TDs on 50 total carries.
Lexington Catholic boasts another future FBS player in Sam Vaughn, a 6-7, 280-pound offensive tackle who’s committed to Miami (Ohio).
Boyle County also has a UK target in junior Landen Bartleson, who’s rushed for 570 yards and 11 TDs, both team highs. Bartleson (6-1, 182 pounds) also has reported offers from Louisville, Tennessee, Colorado, Ohio State and Purdue.
Another Boyle County junior, Reese Smith, has picked up recruiting steam. Tennessee offered the 5-11 wide receiver last month; Cincinnati, Troy, Ausin Peay and Ball State had offered previously. Smith has missed Boyle County’s last couple of games with an injury but could be available on Friday.
