Ballers: This week’s top Kentucky high school football performances

Some of the top individual high school football performances this week, as reported directly to Kentucky.com and elsewhere online:

Garrett Applegate, Lewis County: Had 343 yards and 5 TDs on 52 carries — third-most all-time in KHSAA history — in Lewis County’s 36-26 win over Mason County.

Nick Broyles, Franklin County: Threw for 252 yards and two TD passes and rushed for 74 yards and 2 TDs in Franklin County’s 35-19 win at Tates Creek.

Xavier Brown, Lexington Christian Academy: Freshman went for 120 yards and 3 TDs on 10 carries, and scored a two-point conversion, in LCA’s 44-14 win at Estill County.

Jalen Burbage, Bryan Station: Rushed for 323 yards and 3 TDs on 20 carries and was 9-for-14 for 112 yards and a TD in Bryan Station’s 41-21 win over Madison Central.

Logan Castleman, Beechwood: He had 170 yards and 3 TDs on 26 carries for the defending Class A champs in their 33-21 win at Newport Central Catholic. The senior also forced two fumbles.

Charles Collins, Anderson County: Sophomore had 203 yards and 3 TDs on 11 rushes in Anderson County’s 45-6 win at North Oldham.

Justin Korossy and Josh Wheaton, Montgomery County: They combined for nearly 400 yards rushing and six TDs, scoring three apiece. Korossy, a senior, had 158 yards on 9 carries while Wheaton, a junior fullback, finished with 209 yards on 23 rushes in Montgomery County’s 54-26 win over Lincoln County.

Erick Marinelli, Ballard Memorial: Scored the game-ending TD run in the Bombers’ 38-32 overtime win over Fulton County. Was 14 of 41 for 177 yards and 3 TD passes in regulation.

Jamarcus Robinson, Paul Laurence Dunbar: Had 106 all-purpose yards — including 73 yards and 2 TDs on 2 receptions — in Paul Laurence Dunbar’s 60-14 win over Western.

Wandale Robinson, Western Hills: Rushed for 95 yards and a TD and finished with 95 yards and two receiving TDs on offense in addition to forcing and returning a fumble 54 yards for a TD on defense (he had nine tackles on that side of the ball, too). His rushing TD gave the Wolverines the lead with three seconds to play in a 25-18 win over Harrison County.

Mykah Williams, Central: Rushed for 135 yards and 3 TDs on 14 carries for Central in its 58-6 win at Pleasure Ridge Park.
