Friday's kickoffs

CITY GAMES

No. 16 Henry Clay (3-1) at No. 12 Lafayette (4-1), 7:30 p.m.: This will be the 71st game in the city's oldest rivalry. Lafayette holds a 35-33-2 edge in the series, which began in 1947. Henry Clay averages 11 yards per rush, led by Joquise Buford's 514 yards (12 per carry) and 10 touchdowns. Lafayette's Lucky Jackson has 24 catches for 445 yards and nine TDs.

Lexington Catholic (2-3) at Mercer County (1-4), 7:30 p.m.: Junior running back Jaylen Jones averages 159 yards rushing for LexCath. Mercer County has lost district games to the Knights the last three years.

Lexington Christian Academy (3-1) at Frankfort (3-1), 7:30 p.m.: LCA scored 55 and 43 points in beating Green County and Nelson County the past two weeks, its best back-to-back offensive output since 2010. Frankfort has beaten LCA the past two years.

Paul Laurence Dunbar (3-2) at Madison Central (1-4), 7:30 p.m.: Dunbar junior running back/safety Maurice Carter had 70 yards rushing and receiving, and led the defense with seven solo tackles in a loss to Lafayette last week. Madison Central rushed for 346 yards in a loss to Lexington Catholic, led by Johan Williams' 191 yards and Korrion Crier's 110.

Tates Creek (3-2) at No. 11 Bryan Station (2-2), 7:30 p.m.: In his first extended time at quarterback, Tates Creek junior Peyton Burke completed six of seven passes for 104 yards and two TDs in a win over Rowan County. Bryan Station's C.J. Walker, Marcus Floyd and Tequan Claitt have combined for 57 catches, 648 yards, seven TDs. The Defenders have beaten Tates Creek three times in a row.

TOP STATE GAMES

No. 6 Covington Catholic (3-1) at Highlands (4-0), 7:30 p.m.: CovCath tries to end an 11-game losing streak to the Bluebirds, who lead the series 45-17.

No. 22 DeSales (5-0) at Bardstown (4-0), 7:30 p.m.: The defending Class 2A champ Colts put their 12-game winning streak on the line against district rival Bardstown.
