Corn maze extends giant welcome to WEG

WEG-Maze
The Kelley Farms' giant corn maze welcomed equestrians Tuesday (Sept. 21) for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington. Jack and Sarah Lane turned the 10-acre corn field off Old Richmond Road into the horse-themed maze off Old Richmond Road. It and other attractions at the farm open Friday.

When the owners of Kelley Farms on Old Richmond Road created their annual corn maze this year, they decided to salute the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games with a design featuring a horse and rider sailing over a jump. The maze takes up most of a 10-acre field and is so complicated that Jack Lane, who carved out the image with a large riding mower, says he sometimes gets lost in it. The corn is still growing, so Lane has to touch up the image periodically to keep it sharp. The maze and other fall attractions at Kelley Farms open Friday. Glenn and Martina Devine also are celebrating the Equestrian Games with a similar corn maze at their farm at Harrodsburg. For visitor information about it, go to Devinescornmaze.com.
