Horse of the Year Zenyatta confirmed in foal to Bernardini

Reigning Horse of the Year Zenyatta has been confirmed in foal to Darley stallion and champion Bernardini, according to a post on the mare's Web site Zenyatta.com.

The Web site said everything "looks fabulous and solid" following the 15-day scan and that Zenyatta would be scanned again at about 28 days.

Zenyatta was bred to the 2006 Preakness Stakes winner on Feb. 23, after being vanned from Lane's End Farm to Darley, where Bernardini is stabled.

Zenyatta was retired in November after a career in which she won 19 times in 20 starts.

Rogue Romance to miss Louisiana Derby

Catesby Clay's graded stakes winner Rogue Romance has sustained a slight heel bruise and will miss his intended start in the Louisiana Derby on March 26.

Trainer Ken McPeek reported that the 3-year-old colt by Smarty Jones is walking sound but is somewhat sensitive on the problem foot.

The bruise should not imperil Rogue Romance's status for the Kentucky Derby, and Clay and McPeek are reviewing options such as the Arkansas Derby and the Blue Grass Stakes, both on April 16, for a final prep race.
