One week to go at Keeneland. Who are the meet’s hottest jockeys and trainers?

The 2025 Spring Meet at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington got off to a delayed start because of severe weather in Kentucky, but it’s headed for a fast finish.

Three days of racing remain in Lexington before Churchill Downs takes center stage ahead of the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby on May 3.

At Keeneland, the races for the meet’s winningest jockey and trainer are going to come down to the wire.

Irad Ortiz Jr., Luis Saez and Jose Ortiz are tied for the Spring Meet lead with 15 wins each. Flavien Prat is right behind with 14.

Prat, who won the $650,000, Grade 1 Maker’s Mark Mile aboard Carl Spackler on April 11, had banked the most purse money of any jockey this meet with $2,173,376 in earnings entering Saturday’s races.

Ortiz Jr., who won the $400,000, Grade 3 Stonestreet Lexington Stakes on April 12, has finished in the money in more than half of his starts this meet. From 70 starts, Ortiz Jr. had secured 15 wins, 14 second-place finishes and seven thirds.

Saez, who suffered an injury early in the meet and missed a few rides, has gone 15-4-3 from 58 starts. Prat has made 69 starts, with 14 firsts, 15 seconds and 10 thirds. Ortiz has gone 15-12-12 from 85 starts.

Wesley Ward and Brad Cox lead Keeneland trainers this meet with nine wins. They’re followed by Brendan Walsh with eight wins and Eddie Kenneally with five.

Godolphin was the winningest ownership group entering Saturday’s races with three victories. Several others, including Calumet Farm and Ken Ramsey, have two apiece.

Keeneland is not racing on Easter Sunday. Next week, racing takes place Wednesday through Friday to wrap up the meet.
