Keeneland has delayed the sale of public tickets for its upcoming fall meet after experiencing issues during Tuesday morning’s planned sale.

The racetrack’s ticketing provider, Etix, said it had an unexpected server issue that caused errors and delays for people trying to purchase tickets. Keeneland apologized to anyone who had trouble buying tickets.

The public ticket sale will now begin 9 a.m. Wednesday.

“Etix has since enhanced their web servers and has assured us that they are prepared for tomorrow’s on-sale. We greatly appreciate the patience and continued support of our fans,” Keeneland said in a statement.

Tickets for the fall meet, which will take place Oct. 3-25, were scheduled to go on sale Tuesday morning. But according to online commenters, when shoppers tried to buy tickets, the site was blank.

Some customers were able to purchase tickets despite the strained server. Keeneland said any purchased tickets are valid and will be honored.

Tickets can be purchased on Keeneland’s website when the sale is live.

“We value our fans’ continued support and appreciate your patience as we work to ensure a smooth ticketing process,” Keeneland said in a statement.

The horse racing track has upgraded its facilities before the fall meet, including a redesigned saddling paddock, new jockeys’ quarters and upgraded east entrance. Keeneland said the enhancements will improve flow and functionality on race days for guests, while providing benefits to horsemen and riders.

“At Keeneland, we approach each project deliberately, always striving to create meaningful experiences for our fans and horsemen,” Keeneland President and CEO Shannon Arvin said previously in a news release. “We are excited to welcome guests for 17 incredible days of racing and to debut the thoughtful first phase of our facility enhancements.”

People interested in attending the fall meet are encouraged to buy tickets in advance. Ticketing options include general admission, trackside dining rooms and grandstand reserved seating and venues.
