Keeneland offering one more chance to celebrate Thorpedo Anna on Saturday

Thorpedo Anna, the 2024 Eclipse Award winner for American Horse of the Year, will make a special appearance at Keeneland on Saturday, the final day of the Fall Meet.

Thorpedo Anna, who has been retired and will begin her broodmare career in 2026 at Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa in nearby Paris, began her career with a maiden special weight victory by 8½ lengths at the Lexington track in 2023. She won 12 races in 16 starts, including the 2024 Breeders’ Cup Distaff among 10 graded stakes, and earned $5.4 million.

The champion’s appearance in the Keeneland Paddock will begin at approximately 4 p.m. EDT, and she will appear on the main track following the seventh race.

“We are grateful to every Thorpedo Anna fan that has supported and cheered her on,” trainer Kenny McPeek said. “I hope everyone turns up in pink one last time to see her and celebrate her racing career.”

“Thorpedo Anna captured the hearts of fans everywhere, and it’s only fitting that she returns to Keeneland, where her incredible journey began,” Keeneland president and CEO Shannon Arvin said. “We’re honored to celebrate her accomplishments and give fans the opportunity to see one of the greatest of our sport as she retires.”

Thorpedo Anna’s Keeneland schedule on Saturday includes appearing in the Saddling Paddock before and during the seventh race. At approximately 4:20 p.m. (following the seventh race), she will enter the trackside winner’s circle and parade in front of fans on the main track.

Fans will also be able to purchase a commemorative giclee print of Thorpedo Anna by equine artist Robert Clark at a pop-up shop located outside The Keeneland Shop beginning at noon.
