FIRST RACE—$36,000, claiming ($32,000), 4-years-old and up, 6 furlongs
PP | Horse | Wt. | Jockey | Odds |
1 | a-Partly Mocha | 118 | J. Castellano | 2-1 |
2 | Let’s Go Ben | 118 | J. Leparoux | 4-1 |
1A | a-Hollywood Talent | 118 | A. Jimenez | 2-1 |
3 | Forge Ahead Franki | 120 | F. Geroux | 4-1 |
4 | Purimeter | 118 | M. Murrill | 10-1 |
5 | Rugged | 118 | J. Valdivia | 5-1 |
6 | Almost English | 118 | C. Lanerie | 3-1 |
a-coupled | ||||
Trainers: 1 M. Maker, 2 C. LoPresti, 3 W. Ward, 4 W. Catalano, 5 M. Perez, 6 J. Cowan, 7 G. Foley.
ALMOST ENGLISH drops back in for a tag after ran well over this track back in October. He has the tactical speed to be in contention throughout and gets the nod with Lanerie picking up the mount for Greg Foley. PARTLY MOCHA and HOLLYWOOD TALENT have different trainers but run coupled as the Ramsey entry. Partly Mocha prefers the turf and Hollywood Talent comes off a long layoff but both drop in class and are capable of solid performances. LETS GO BEN is a contender.
SECOND RACE—$50,000, maiden special weight, 2-years-old, 4 1/2 furlongs, post 1:39
2 | Game Played | 118 | R. Aragon | 15-1 |
3 | Mr D’s Way | 118 | C. Lanerie | 7-2 |
1 | a-Dahog | 118 | A. Cox | 6-1 |
4 | Cardinal Sin | 118 | J. Castellano | 4-1 |
5 | Con Te Partiro | 115 | A. Jimenez | 4-1 |
1A | a-Rapa Iti | 118 | A. Cox | 6-1 |
6 | Sequence Six | 111 | J. Dominguez | 15-1 |
7 | Sekondi | 118 | C. Landeros | 12-1 |
8 | Angelo’s Ashes | 115 | J. Valdivia | 3-1 |
9 | Laser Luke | 118 | C. Villasana | 12-1 |
a-coupled | ||||
Trainers: 1 M. Pinzon, 2 J. Hancock, 3 W. Rice, 4 M. Maker, 5 W. Ward, 6 W. Rice, 7 T. Short, 8 V. Belvoir, 9 W. Ward, 10 T. Short.
CON DE PARTIRO and ANGELO'S ASHES are both trained by Wes Ward but run uncoupled. The former shows no published works in the form PP's but does have a 35 3/5 work on the clockers tab for April 6th. Give her the slight edge with Jiminez up. MR. D'S WAY had a near bullet work for John Hancock who won a baby race on Sunday.
THIRD RACE—$21,000, starters allowance, fillies & mares 4-years-old and up, 1 1/16 mile, 2:12
1 | Pink Freud Live | 118 | L. Goncalves | 8-1 |
2 | Sarbi | 118 | D. Osorio | 10-1 |
3 | Al’s Rosie | 118 | C. Lanerie | 3-1 |
4 | Fiddlelina | 118 | O. Mojica | 12-1 |
5 | Tamiami Trail | 118 | A. Contreras | 15-1 |
6 | Sugar Cube | 111 | S. Saez | 5-1 |
7 | Seeyouatthedisco | 120 | J. Graham | 1-1 |
Trainers: 1 C. Brownfield III, 2 R. Moquett, 3 C. Dickey, 4 D. Ware, 5 S. Schu, 6 R. Hiles, 7 J. Sharp.
SEEYOUATTHEDISCO has won two in a row since being claimed by Joe Sharp in January. She looks like a solid bet to extend that streak at short odds today. AL'S ROSIE has been running against better recently and won impressively over this track in October. SUGAR CUBE is a contender.
FOURTH RACE—$21,000, maiden claiming ($30,000), fillies & mares 3-years-old and up, 6 1/2 furlongs, 2:45
1 | Tizthedream | 116 | J. Castellano | 3-1 |
2 | Sashenka | 116 | C. Landeros | 6-1 |
3 | Sault Starr | 122 | A. Cox | 10-1 |
4 | Miss Blossom | 116 | J. Castanon | 6-1 |
5 | Katy’s Duchess | 116 | Bridgmohan | 7-2 |
6 | Alittlebourbon | 116 | D. Cannon | 12-1 |
7 | Jayne Wayne | 122 | P. Lopez | 8-1 |
8 | Duchess Bird | 116 | J. Bravo | 7-2 |
Trainers: 1 K. McPeek, 2 I. Wilkes, 3 W. Rice, 4 B. Flint, 5 A. McKeever, 6 G. Skinner, 7 C. Dickey, 8 N. Zito.
KATY'S DUCHESS drops in for a tag for the first time and rates a slight edge in a fairly weak maiden claimer. DUCHESS BIRD could show some speed from the outside post and Nick Zito won two races here on opening weekend. TIZTHEDREAM also takes the class drop and is a solid threat.
FIFTH RACE—$64,000, allowance, fillies & mares 4-years-old and up, 1 1/2 mile, 3:18
1 | a-Candy Crush | 118 | R. Albarado | 3-1 |
2 | Pramedya | 118 | F. Prat | 8-1 |
3 | Al Khazaaliya | 118 | J. Velazquez | 3-1 |
4 | My Love Venezuela | 118 | F. Geroux | 8-1 |
5 | Harass | 118 | B. Hernandez | 12-1 |
6 | Season Ticket | 118 | J. Leparoux | 5-2 |
7 | Sweetgrass | 118 | C. Landeros | 12-1 |
1A | a-Personal Diary | 118 | J. Castellano | 3-1 |
8 | Tiz Kismet | 118 | C. Lanerie | 8-1 |
a-coupled | ||||
Trainers: 1 V. Oliver, 2 A. Delacour, 3 T. Pletcher, 4 B. Cox, 5 I. Wilkes, 6 M. Casse, 7 I. Wilkes, 8 V. Oliver, 9 B. Walsh.
The big question in this race is who can get a mile and a half. None of these are proven at the marathon distance but AL KHAZAALIYA did win when stretched out to 1 3/16 ths last out. She has been in the money in five of her seven races and Velazquez is back aboard for Todd Pletcher. SEASON TICKET has been idle since November but was a stakes winner at a mile and a quarter in Canada. She has trained well for Mark Casse and her class makes her the one to beat. PERSONAL DIARY is a Grade I stakes winner who has to be respected.
SIXTH RACE—$27,000, claiming ($40,000), 3-years-old and up, 1 mile, 3:51
1 | Tiznow R J | 123 | F. Geroux | 7-2 |
2 | Pepite | 123 | S. Doyle | 12-1 |
3 | Arch Pearl | 125 | C. Lanerie | 5-2 |
4 | My Friend David | 116 | R. Hisby | 20-1 |
5 | Matador | 123 | J. Leparoux | 4-1 |
6 | Ironclad | 123 | J. Castanon | 4-1 |
7 | I Call Shotgun | 123 | J. Graham | 3-1 |
Trainers: 1 S. Asmussen, 2 W. Brumley, 3 C. Murphy, 4 N. Sanchez, 5 M. Casse, 6 J. Frost, 7 T. Amoss.
ARCH PEARL is in good form right now and should be in good position right behind the early leaders in this one. He drops back in for a tag and his best would be good enough to win. MATADOR ran poorly in his first start back after a 16 month layoff. He has had two works since that start and can be expected to improve. I CALL SHOTGUN was claimed last out by Tom Amoss and definitely fits in here.
SEVENTH RACE—$62,000, allowance, 3-year-olds, 1 1/16 mile, 4:24
1 | Cite | 123 | J. Lezcano | 7-2 |
2 | Space Mountain | 118 | P. Lopez | 4-1 |
3 | Cotton Town | 118 | J. Bravo | 15-1 |
4 | Aquaphobia | 118 | J. Leparoux | 15-1 |
5 | Good Intent | 118 | J. Graham | 10-1 |
6 | Camelot Kitten | 118 | J. Castellano | 5-2 |
7 | Samicean | 118 | C. Landeros | 20-1 |
8 | Sea of Erin | 118 | C. Lanerie | 20-1 |
9 | Run Like Elle | 118 | B. Hernandez | 20-1 |
10 | Monster Bea | 118 | L. Saez | 15-1 |
11 | Troisade | 118 | Bridgmohan | 20-1 |
12 | Tasit | 118 | F. Geroux | 8-1 |
13 | Riddler | 118 | J. Velazquez | 7-2 |
14 | Siding Spring | 118 | L. Saez | 6-1 |
Trainers: 1 W. Mott, 2 G. Arnold, II, 3 D. . Lukas, 4 A. Delacour, 5 J. Cowan, 6 C. Brown, 7 K. McPeek, 8 E. Kenneally, 9 T. Drury, 10 M. Casse, 11 E. Reed, 12 M. Matz, 13 T. Pletcher, 14 M. Casse.
CAMELOT KITTEN hasn't raced since a 12th place finish in the B.C. Juv Turf. He was runner up in the Grade III Bourbon in his previous start and Chad Brown should have him ready to go in his three year old debut. CITE has shown big improvement in his two races this year for Bill Mott. He figures to get a good trip from the inside post and looks like the one to beat. SPACE MOUNTAIN is also improving and can't be dismissed.
EIGHTH RACE—$27,000, maiden claiming ($50,000), 3-years-old and up, 6 furlongs, 4:57
2 | Spirit Grabber | 116 | C. Landeros | 12-1 |
3 | Eerily | 122 | J. Bravo | 8-1 |
1 | a-Fried Baloney | 116 | S. Doyle | 4-1 |
4 | Full Scope | 122 | R. Albarado | 7-2 |
5 | Zhukov | 116 | M. Murrill | 30-1 |
6 | Explore Paradise | 122 | P. Lopez | 8-1 |
7 | DahvenWithDooley | 116 | A. Jimenez | 3-1 |
8 | Sounds Elusive | 122 | A. Cox | 30-1 |
9 | Christopher K | 122 | B. Hernandez | 8-1 |
10 | Numbers Never Lie | 116 | J. Castanon | 20-1 |
1A | a-Jack West | 116 | J. Graham | 4-1 |
11 | Black Tavish | 116 | C. Lanerie | 12-1 |
a-coupled | ||||
Trainers: 1 I. Wilkes, 2 K. Gorder, 3 N. Zito, 4 B. Walsh, 5 G. Dorochenko, 6 C. Peery, 7 W. Ward, 8 W. Rice, 9 G. Arnold, II, 10 O. Draper, 11 N. Zito, 12 J. Corrigan.
FULL SCOPE moves back to the dirt after a couple of turf races against better. He ran well on this surface at Churchill and posted a solid recent work here. Give him the edge. DAHAVEN WITH DOOLEY debuts for Wesley Ward off a series of solid works including a near bullet on April 7th. He figures to be ready and is the one to catch. JACK WEST flashed speed in both of his races at Gulfstream and has to be respected.
