Wager on the run: Keeneland’s drive-through betting windows open for Kentucky Derby
There won’t be any fans in the stands when the Kentucky Derby runs next weekend, but there will still be money on the line. Keeneland’s drive-through betting windows will be open to place wagers on all the weekend action at Churchill Downs.
Keeneland will open its drive-through betting windows on Sept. 4 and Sept. 5 to accept bets on the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby, as well as all the other races at Churchill Downs for those two days.
Six drive-through betting windows will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 4 for betting on the Oaks, advance wagering on the Kentucky Derby full card, and Derby Double betting, Keeneland said in a news release. The first post at Churchill Downs on Sept. 4 is 11 a.m. and the Oaks post time is 5:45 p.m.
Eight betting windows will operate from 7 a.m. until Kentucky Derby post time (7:01 p.m.) on Sept. 5, according to a news release. The first post time at Churchill Downs on Sept. 5 is 11 a.m.
The drive-through windows will be located behind the entertainment center reached via Gate 1 at Versailles Road and Man o’ War Boulevard. But first, bettors will have to complete a health screening and temperature check at Gate 1.
Drive-through betting is the only activity Keeneland is offering for Kentucky Derby weekend, according to a news release.
Full-card simulcasting programs will be available for $4 on each day, and official Kentucky Derby programs will be available for $6 each, according to a Keeneland news release.
