Who is rapper Jack Harlow’s Kentucky Derby pick? ‘I feel like I have no choice.’
Stopping to pose for photos on the red carpet at Churchill Downs Saturday, Rapper Jack Harlow paused to tease his pick for the winner of the 148th Kentucky Derby.
“There’s a horse named Happy Jack. I feel like I have no choice,” Harlow told reporters at the event, seemingly referencing the name the two share.
Previously favored at 30-1, Happy Jack’s odds improved Saturday afternoon, jumping to 21-1. It’s his first time racing at Churchill Downs.
Bred and owned by Kentucky’s Calumet Farms, Happy Jack placed third in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby at Santa Anita on April 9, his last time out.
Other graded stakes results: Third in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita on March 5; fifth in the Grade 3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes at Santa Anita on Feb. 6.
Fans broke into squeals and cheers as Harlow strolled down the red carpet, wearing a lush, cream-colored silk suit.
A Louisville native, Rapper Jack Harlow was set to make the “Riders Up!” call before the start of the race, bidding the jockeys to mount their horses ahead of the big race.
Power vocalist Brittney Spencer will sing the national anthem.
